I have been into web development and design since the mid-90’s, as a hobby and an obsession since the first time I accidentally viewed source on an online resume, and decided to try writing code for myself!
Since that time, I’ve learned so much, only because of open source software. Everything I know, I taught myself. I could not afford to attend college, and even if I had, I don’t think my education would have been as thorough, or as well-learned. I avoid Microsoft products in favor of open source software, and that includes servers – I prefer the ‘Nix servers, and have no desire to switch. I’ve learned XHTML, CSS, a little PHP, and how to administer a site on a Linux or Unix server.
I haven’t made a career of it – I have been employed mainly doing administrative and office work throughout my life. And a lot of places want you to know ASP and .Net and sorry, I don’t do that.
I am now housebound with a serious liver ailment, but thank God for the Net! I love sharing what I’ve learned with others who are just discovering how much fun this is. This will be a place to learn, a place to host your blog, a place to get free themes and help customizing them – and a place to share your own outlook on the World Wide Web.
Welcome to the Gardens – so glad you are here!
