WordPress Theme Upgrades

Sunday, January 4th, 2009

I haven’t been visible around the Garden lately, but I’ve busy behind the scenes, readying and upgrading all my WordPress themes for 2.7, and working on a new, magazine style theme.

Daisy Gray has been released and can be downloaded at WordPress.org. This was submitted right before the 2.7 release, but will work with 2.7 if you don’t use threaded comments. If you do, wait for the 2.7 version (coming tonight or tomorrow).

I’ll also be releasing a very nice magazine-style theme very soon, with a dramatic black and white theme and plenty of ad real estate in the wide, tabbed sidebar. I’m working out the kinks now, and should be ready to release by the end of the week!

New WordPress Theme – Daisy Gray

Thursday, December 11th, 2008

WordPress 2.7 final has been released, and I’ve upgraded the Gardens! No problems so far, although I haven’t checked all the plugins. Theme Switcher Reloaded doesn’t work as it should, unfortunately, but I’m sure that will be fixed soon.

Daisy Gray WordPress ThemeTo celebrate, I’m releasing a new theme – Daisy Gray. It’s a fixed-width (750 pixels), two-column theme with a right sidebar, in white and shades of gray, with a two-level tabbed page menu. As with all the Garden’s themes, Daisy Gray is coded to be very search engine friendly. I just submitted it to WordPress.org today, and it will take a few days to be approved, but if you want it now, just drop me a line either here in comments or at the Contact page.

WordPress 2.7 coming!

Wednesday, December 3rd, 2008

The first release candidate for 2.7 is out, and I’ve installed it on my dev server for testing. So far, so good! Also out soon is SimplePress forum’s new version, so it looks like I’m going to have a busy holiday.

As soon as the final version is released, I’ll be releasing the updates for Coronado, Green Apples, and Tickled Pink themes for WordPress 2.7, and have a fresh theme in the works. I’ve completed the Photoshop and template and am piecing it together with 2.7RC1.

On all themes, comment layout will change, to a more aesthetically pleasing look for the threaded comments.

On backwards-compatibility: Security demands that you keep your software updated. If you want 2.6 versions of the three themes already released, download them now. All themes from the Gardens will be for the latest version(s) of WordPress, which will soon be 2.7.

Coronado Theme Released

Sunday, November 30th, 2008

The pre-2.7 version of Coronado has been released and is available for download at WordPress.org.

There are some necessary changes to be made to the Garden’s themes when version 2.7 of WordPress is released. I haven’t yet decided if I will make the themes backwards-compatible or not, but am leaning towards not. So if you want to have 2.6.xx versions of our themes, download them now – the compatible versions will be released as soon as WordPress 2.7 debuts.

SimplePress Forum Theme Finished

Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008

I still have to pretty up the forms and form buttons, but the new skin for the Garden’s forums is finished – have a look and tell me what you think!

I used Sweetie Web Icons and FamFamFam Silk for most of the icons. When I track down the makers of the group, forum and topic icons and verify that it is okay, I will release the skin, or find GPL or CC icons to complete the release.

In closing, I upgraded to 2.6, painlessly. I hear that those using the automatic upgrade plugin had troubles – I’m glad I didn’t have time to install it!
